Euro-trip: Spain, Madrid

Last month me and my fiancé travelled to Spain. We found great tickets: Krakow-Madrid and Barcelona-Krakow. For both we paid less than 100 EUR. We found a tickets on Ryanair and of course it was so convenient and cheap. We just booked it. Only after we started to think how can we travel on budget while going to two most expensive cities in Spain and in entire Europe.
In Madrid we were staying in hostel available on airbnb.pl – easy and cheap way to find private room in the city center for less than 20 EUR per night.
We were basically using our feet to get from one place to another – touristic part in Madrid is relatively small. We used metro maybe for three times.
So What to do in Madrid? We stood there for four days and it was truly enough. Every tourist should go to Museo del Prado, Reina Sophia, also Archeology Museum is very impressive and also the Royal Palace. Of course all Museums are expensive, but we can go there for free!!!
Before spending eagerly around 15 to 20 EUR for each entrance we must go to “Tourist Center” we chose one next to Reina Sofia. The man told us exactly what hours are free at which museum. Archeological is for free all the timy, Reina Sofia was free on since 7p.m. and del Prado since 6 p.m. – of course two hours is not enough for del Prado but we saved 20 EUR the entrance fee!
About the food – we were shopping in Tesco :D or ate lots of tapas with beer – also quite easy to stuff the stomach. And just once we went to Mercado San Miguel. It’s just worth to go there to see it. But to be honest it’s throwing a money away: food is exceedingly expensive and usually not tasty. Especially sea food.
But all in all Madrid is awesome. We did like it – and we saved a lot by going to each museum for free.
