Places in Taiwan

Most of people travel around Asia – and it’s really great. But before traveling to Malaysia, Indonesia or Singapore we are taking our chance to see Taiwan. This weekend I went to Tainan and Gaoxiong and I loved Gaoxiong – it’s the second biggest city in Taiwan, where modern buildings  interweave with nature and traditional food. Some of those buildings, especially at night,  remind me some huge cities I’ve been. But what I loves is of course food – I am not able to eat as much as Taiwanese eat but still I am trying to have every kind of food. So far I’ve been to almost every bigger city in Taiwan – nest stop is Canting 餐廳 and Sun moon Lake 日月潭.

Langugages

Couple of months ago I started to learn Chinese. I must admit it’s a demanding language. I used to learn German, Czech, but never it took me so much time to memorize words – maybe not words but characters and way of speaking. Chinese has tomes and depends on how you low down your voice people understand you or not. You can say the same word ex. tian, guo – using different tones and it would mean something else. This language it a challenge. So yesterday I did my first small presentation for Chinese classes – not very sophisticated but it’s great for the beginners.

台灣的食物很有名.

台灣人很喜歡吃.

有很多台灣菜 很奇怪.

台湾菜很有趣.

很多人愛吃牛肉麵.

台灣人吃:雞肉,牛肉,豬肉,蝦子,魚,龍蝦,烏賊,羊肉,螃蟹, 牡蠣, 炒飯, 麵.

大腸包小腸 很有趣因為有一個香腸被包在另一個裡面.蛇也出現在台灣菜中.臭豆腐很臭可是很好吃.火鍋也很好吃又很好玩 - 你可以自己煮.

台灣的菜有很多香料.我嚐過了雞肉心,雞胗,雞腸, 雞睪丸.

台灣人吃豬血.豬血在湯跟豬血糕裡面.牛奶非常貴.台灣沒有巧克力但是有糖果: 綠茶餅乾, 紅豆, 地瓜.

很好喝薑茶.台灣菜有多種湯.珍珠奶茶 很有名.

Traveling in Asia part one

As we live in Taiwan now, we are traveling. Sometimes it’s very easy to find a cheap tickets and hotels and have a vacation of your life! You just have to take the advantage, cause the same seven-day trip to Cebu (Philippines) from Poland is at least 6 time much more expensive. You pay for the flight ticket about 800EUR, not 70EUR as we paid. So yes, me and two of my friends went to Philippines. And we have one of the best vacations in our lives. Now we’ll try to figure out cheap tickets to Malaysia. One thing I know, Asia is amazing! If someone wants to come for an exchange, I think it will be the best trip ever.

Studying abroad – at many universities?

Why is it worth to apply for different universities? Because every country and every school has a different system and different programs. For example when I went to do my Erasmus in Vienna in Wirtschaftsuniversität, I didn’t really know what to expect. Cause in UE in Katowice we study in a little bit different way. We have basic lectures and then (not always) we have practical classes according to lectures. In Vienna in looked different, cause every lecture is based on some case studies, drills, team works. And in the end you may have only one chance to pass the test, if you don’t you fail forever. At UE in Poland we have three or even more approaches. It means that at WU in Vienna you really have to work hard during the whole semester, not only at the end of the semester. The big disadvantage of this is that you can’t really work during studies, cause attendance is required. At UE – I could combine work with studying. The situation is even more different in Taiwan at NTU – fist of all it’s the best University in Taiwan, and UE student who come here to exchange usually are signed up to Global MBA program. During some classes you not only have to do cases or actively attend the class (not sleep somewhere in the back) but also its required to do many papers, many presentations, books review etc. Students have so many stuff to do at home.

The greatest thing about studying abroad is foreign language. Your English will improve like three times. And the cool thing is that you can always attend the country language classes. So in Vienna I took German course – it’s much more awesome to have native teacher! And in Taiwan I am taking Chinese course – also with native teacher who speaks actually mandarin with Taiwanese accent. On the beginning it’s confusing but then you realize it’s a great reward.
